Acid and alkali resistance, high sealing - how does fluorine lined valve ensure fluid safety?

Publish Time: 2025-03-17
Fluorine lined valve plays an important role in ensuring fluid safety through its unique acid and alkali resistance and high sealing performance.

1. Acid and alkali resistance

Material selection: Fluorine lined valve uses fluoroplastics such as FEP (F46) polyperfluoroethylene propylene and PCTFE (F3) as lining materials. These fluoroplastics have extremely strong corrosion resistance and can resist erosion by various concentrations of sulfuric acid (H2SO4), hydrochloric acid (HCl), hydrofluoric acid (HF) and various organic acids, strong acids, strong oxidants and other corrosive media.

Applicable temperature range: Although fluorine lined valve is subject to greater temperature limitations, it is suitable for media between -50°C and 150°C, which covers the common fluid temperatures in many industrial applications.

Corrosion resistance advantage: Due to the strong corrosion resistance of fluoroplastics, fluorine lined valve can effectively prevent the corrosion of the valve body material when conveying corrosive fluids, thereby ensuring the long-term stable operation of the valve and the safety of the fluid.

2. High sealing performance

Sealing structure: fluorine lined valve usually adopts spherical sealing structure or other advanced sealing technologies, which can effectively reduce leakage points and improve sealing performance.

Sealing material: Fluorine plastic lining is not only corrosion-resistant, but also has good sealing performance. It can fit closely with the valve seat to form a reliable sealing surface to prevent fluid leakage.

Installation and maintenance: During the installation and maintenance of fluorine lined valve, special attention should be paid to the protection and cleaning of the flange sealing surface. During installation, the flange nuts should be tightened evenly in the diagonal direction in sequence, and with appropriate torque. If leakage occurs, the sealing surface should be checked and adjusted to ensure the sealing performance.

Long-term storage and maintenance: The fluorine lined valve stored for a long time should keep its sealing pair in a slightly open and separated state to avoid deformation of the sealing surface due to long-term pressure, thereby affecting the sealing performance and service life.

3. Comprehensive safeguard measures

Prevent flange surface damage: The flange cover of the fluorine lined valve cannot be opened at will unless it is ready to be connected to the pipeline. When the cover is moved for inspection, it must also be quickly reset after inspection to protect the PTFE flange surface from scratches or distortion caused by temperature differences and foreign objects.

Avoid high-temperature welding: No high-temperature welding is allowed on the fluorine lined valve to avoid damaging the lining layer.

Operation specification: When manually operating the fluorine lined valve, it is not allowed to use other levers to force the valve to open and close, so as not to damage the sealing surface or affect the valve performance.

Storage environment: The fluorine lined valve should be stored in a dry and ventilated room, and stacking is strictly prohibited to maintain its good performance and extend its service life.

In summary, the fluorine lined valve performs well in ensuring fluid safety through its acid and alkali resistance and high sealing performance. When selecting a fluorine lined valve, the appropriate valve type and specification should be selected according to the fluid properties, temperature range and other requirements of the specific application scenario, and the installation and maintenance specifications should be strictly followed to ensure its long-term stable operation and fluid safety.
